SAI ANNA LAXMI FOUNDATION (SALF) began working closely with a few good schools in the country to identify individual students who come from economically challenged backgrounds and therefore invariably go hungry ( or do not have access to food) while they are regularly attending schools.
These are children who are not covered by the government supported mid-day meal programs in schools. Their parents, majority unskilled and a few semi-skilled are usually daily wage earners without any regular employment. With great difficulty, these children manage to stay away from child labour and attend well run schools that do not charge them any fees.
SALF identified several students in this category. SALF then developed a comprehensive agenda for a MEAL SUPPORT PROGRAM to provide crucial help to these select students. This Program assures them regular hot meals at lunch time every day they attend school. This is in fact the only one good, hot, and nutritious meal that they get in a day.
SALF has provided over 1.2 million Free Meals till the financial year 2019-20.
On an average we support 1,400 hot meals every day.

COVID – 19
We are striving to continue supporting these children during these difficult days of the pandemic outbreak when the schools are closed (no mid-day meals now).
We have assembled a variety of Grocery Kits for Free distribution amongst these children and their families. While the governments of various states are providing free rations – rice and wheat – the grocery kits we provide through our network enhance the quality and nutrition of the food they consume. Our aim is to keep them healthy and away from child labour so that they can return to schools un-harmed.
